The Arc of the Capital Area

  • Mission

The Arc of the Capital Area empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, work, and thrive as valued members of their communities — with dignity, choice, and belonging at the center of everything we do.

    About Us

For decades, The Arc of the Capital Area has been a trusted partner for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families across 17 counties in Central Texas.

We believe every person — regardless of ability — deserves the opportunity to build a life of independence, purpose, and connection. That belief drives everything from our programs to our people.

We serve children, teens, and adults through a range of supports including:

    • Art & Education — Creative expression programs that build confidence, social skills, and independence at campuses in Austin, Leander, and Hutto
    • Employment Services — Personalized pathways helping individuals find and maintain meaningful work in the community
    • Case Management — Dedicated support coordinators helping individuals and families navigate services, systems, and goals across the lifespan

Our work is rooted in relationship. We don't just serve our participants — we walk alongside them and their families for years, sometimes decades. We show up in courtrooms, classrooms, workplaces, and studios. We celebrate milestones and problem-solve the hard days.

If you're looking to volunteer somewhere that sees you as more than a warm body — where your time translates directly into someone's brighter day — you've found your place.
