UCS - Federal Action Campaign Team

The Federal Defense program has focused primarily on organizing in a defensive mode throughout the first two years of its existence, reacting to and aiding in preparing a response and strategic vision for assaults at a federal level on UCSs core mission and values across programs. As the 2020 Presidential battle gears up and creates a venue for dialogue and debate across the political spectrum it is imperative that UCS take part in that national conversation while at the same time preparing for all the possible outcomes of the general election on both an executive and congressional level. 

To prepare for whatever lies ahead of us, we must strategically grow our assets and situate ourselves in the best position for success. The FACT program will identify states that will be politically relevant for multiple programs and coordinate the mapping of already existing assets, pinpointing areas where we need to expand our reach and aid in development of cross organizational accountability plans. We will expand the Science Champions program in politically salient states through a new campus program, a regular skills training curriculum and by focusing on building out the non-scientist activist base of our membership across the country.    

The activist initiative of the Federal Action Campaign Team (FACT), the Science Champions, is a unit meant to mobilize activists all over the country in the fight against the attacks on science.
