CHICAGO FRINGE OPERA

  • Mission

Chicago Fringe Opera is dedicated to presenting an innovative community with an intimate and immersive performance experience, and fostering and empowering local artists.

    About Us

Founded in 2014, Chicago’s "alt-opera company," Chicago Fringe Opera has been touted as Chicago's next up-and-coming operatic performance company. Fringe has a unique MISSION within the city to empower its local artistic vocal, instrumental and theatrical production community through interdisciplinary dynamic chamber music productions, with a focus in recent compositions, working almost entirely with artists based in our own community of the City of Chicago. Our company is run by a volunteer group of core members, acting in administrative and artistic capacities. Fringe's non-governing Board builds community connections, corporate sponsors, and are envoys to the increasing number of individual donors. Fringe has two main-stage productions yearly - which have included works by Britten, Boclom, Mazzoli, and more - with projects in motion for collaborations, new commissions, recitals, and other events that will be featured in the months and seasons to come. Fringe's VISION centers on being at the forefront of producing contemporary vocal music in the city of Chicago, and utilizing the immense talent that already exists within our communities rather than seeking artists from outside our area. Above all Fringe VALUES Artistic Integrity, Musical Excellence, Collaboration, Community, and Inclusion. Fringe is creating the classical vocal music of the future; we look forward to you joining our Family as artist, patron, donor, board member, or groupie. Opera Speaks, it's calling a new voice.
