You have come to the right place. We offer a lifetime experience volunteering with elephants in Sri Lanka. These elephants are the lucky few who found their home at the Elephant Freedom project. Here they can roam the project grounds freely and enjoy the full attention of enthusiastic and highly motivated volunteers.

How many other elephant projects actually remove the chains from the elephant for good? How many have totally banned the bad practice of elephant rides?

We believe you that you will have the best ever time at the Elephant Freedom volunteer project and by being here you help the elephants to stay at this wonderful place.

Our goals is to ensure optimum welfare for the Asian Elephant in Sri Lanka and to educate volunteers, tourists and the local community on the importance of animal welfare.

We are here to also help the disadvantaged local community around the elephant volunteer project by English conversation classes, interaction with foreigners, business mentoring and employment generation through the elephant freedom volunteer project.

At the project you will get heavily involved with elephant care which includes activities such as bathing, feeding and walking the elephant, project maintenance, eco gardening and more.

You will also be able to explore the beautiful rural area surrounding the project whilst out on elephant walks or when you are off to help at the temple school or community.
