About Us

Career Pipe is a Public Benefits Corporation (mission-based for-profit). We provide under represented young adults a road map to financial independence by training them to become successful sales professionals in NYC.

According to the Brookings Institute, a college degree is worth less if the graduate’s family was poor when they grew up. College graduates from families with an income below 185% of the federal poverty level achieve an average income of $30k - $50k throughout their career compared to $50k - $100k for graduates from families with an income above the federal poverty level.

While there are numerous programs focused on supporting under-resourced children through college graduation, there are very few focused on helping graduates achieve permanent financial independence for them and their families. At the same time, more than 50% of US college graduates are likely to work in sales. Of the 4,000+ colleges in this country, less than 100 have sales programs/courses (Harvard Business Review). That is a remarkable gap considering there are currently 40,000+ vacant sales roles in NYC alone. This is even more remarkable given the impact that working in sales will have on the lives of families and students.

Our goal for the next 3 years is to back this model in NYC so that we can scale it to other cities across the nation. Our target impact is 5,000 - 10,000 students served in the next 10 years
