In the United States, 75 percent of adults aim to help the environment in some way in their daily lives. In Japan, 51 percent of consumers are more concerned with the environment than they were a year ago. Residents in the United Kingdom rank climate change as their second greatest concern and German residents rank it as their primary concern.

At the same time, more ethically minded consumer trends are leading businesses towards increasing corporate social responsibility, or CSR. Consumers are using their wallets to voice what’s important to them. Studies have shown that 81 percent of Millennials expect their favorite companies to participate in CSR, and nine in 10 Millennials say they would switch brands based on a company’s CSR causes. There’s a growing consumer base that is prioritizing companies and products that make a positive impact on the world around them. Globally, a third of consumers are now choosing to buy from brands based not their social and environmental impact. Brands face an estimated $1.13 trillion opportunity to make their sustainability credentials clear.
