Refresh This is a new podcast by the same team that brought you the award-winning podcast Fresh Off the Vote. Our mission is to reimagine civic engagement and the active citizen. With each episode, we revisit a piece of our community through personal stories and context and ask “What if it worked differently?.” By applying curiosity and empathy, we hope to ignite thought-starters about the social issues that matter to our generation. We believe changing the world to be more inclusive is possible through a rewrite, reimagine, or refresh.
Our fully remote team is made up of Gen-Z and Millenials across the United States — and internationally! FOTV was founded in the midst of a pandemic and election year, and we’ve since built a virtual community that holds each other accountable while exploring ways in which we can invigorate young people to become more civically engaged. Refresh This is a new project aimed at continuing our previous work and expanding our topics beyond politics.
We strive for a culture where passionate, creative, and socially conscious individuals can pitch and work on projects that they truly enjoy. Each member becomes an integral part of the team. We encourage and help each other to learn and gain confidence with skills in storytelling, content production, marketing, project management, and so much more.
Our team has also grown its external network of fellow storytellers and podcasters, opening up the space to collaborate with folks like National Geographic, APIAVote, and Asian American Girl Club. FOTV has been previously recognized by the Asian American Journalists Association as the Top 10 podcasts to watch in 2020 and recently voted the winner of the Best News/Culture Podcast at the inaugural Asian Podcast Awards.
