About Us

ISG is a U.S. professional services company, founded in 2005, with a presence in developing markets worldwide complete with staff in the United States, Latin America, and the Middle East, with partners in Africa, Central Asia and Oceania.

ISG was founded as a performance management and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) firm. Comprising a diverse team of professionals, ISG continues to focus on performance and M&E, maintaining a dedicated practice that helps both international and US-based organizations assess their performance and strengthen their programming. As a result, ISG was the first private-sector organization to be accepted for membership with the Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP – www.alnap.org), founded by the Oversees Development Institute and recognized as a worldwide standard-setting organization for evaluation in development and humanitarian aid.

ISG’s work has included multi-year and short-term programming related to funding from the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), USAID, the United States Department of State, the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), UNDP, UNICEF, UNDP, OCHA, UNOPS, UN WOMEN, UNSECWA, UNHCR, UNIDO, ILO, the World Bank, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), AusAID, Club de Madrid, the European Commission, and the United Nations Democracy Fund and the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF). We also work with many non-governmental organizations, such as Plan International, IREX, IRI, Abt Associates, ACDI/VOCA, CARE International, CHF International, the Eurasia Foundation, Relief International, Save the Children, World Vision, Islamic Relief International, and many others.

ISG’s Core Services

  • Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation. ISG enhances development and humanitarian aid programming performance through a customized, participatory process. ISG’s approach measures program impact, relevance, efficiency, and sustainability before, during and after implementation – highlighting both challenges and successes.
  • Capacity Building. ISG delivers technical assistance to individuals and organizations that develop relevant skills and resources. This work strengthens local resources now better able to identify and overcome real and perceived challenges.
  • Private Sector Development. ISG encourages private sector development by facilitating public-private partnerships, building local productive capacities, developing the local workforce, and enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises.
  • IT Development. We design, develop, and maintain IT systems and infrastructure that support development programming.

ISG’s Capabilities

ISG’s evaluation approach is multidisciplinary-connecting technical processes with social, economic, and institutional elements. This approach includes both qualitative and quantitative data sets within logical and results-based frameworks. Further, ISG’s experience with programming that has goals difficult to measure or quantify (i.e. equality, conflict transformation, political change, human development) allows ISG to work with their clients to ensure that their customized approach delivers efficient, comprehensive analysis. This customized approach provides examination of broader, indirect impacts of any given program. Finally, the depth of ISG’s evaluation approach informs clients by providing detailed recommendations and lessons learned, ultimately improving effectiveness and, hopefully, future work to come.
