Patenarya means partnership in Haitian Creole. We strongly believe that developing countries like Haiti can benefit more from trade than aid. We've seen for decades that charity does not work. Haitians, especially women, need jobs. These partnerships offer employment for marginalized workers while creating beautiful and useful items for the international market. All of our partners operate under the fair trade principles of better pay and working conditions, as well as empowerment for women. Patenarya partners with artisan and farmer cooperatives throughout Haiti, paying upfront for products and providing a living wage.
