SMV Green Solutions

SMV Green Solutions, founded in 2014-15, is a Varanasi based company that offers affordable, clean and safe mobility in the last mile transportation. Organization is working to build an ecosystem by creating livelihood, promoting inclusive mobility, and offering technology solutions in sustainable transportation. SMV has enabled 1,038 e-rickshaw ownership, of which 550 are in Varanasi and the company estimates that it has reduced 2,076 tons of carbon dioxide emissions since its inception. It’s efforts in uplifting the lives of those from marginalized communities while reducing air pollution and carbon emissions. SMV Green Solutions has been recognized at a global level and won the 2019 Ashden Awards under the International Sustainable Mobility category.

Vahini is another initiative of the organization, aims to empower women through mobility by creating women micro-entrepreneurs for last mile transportation for girls and women of all ages. The objective of this programme is to remove the barriers (Financial Access, Training, and Security) for women to own and drive e-rickshaws, and create an ecosystem to encourage more women to do this business.

SMV Green solutions is putting all its efforts to build an sustainable ecosystem for electric mobility. Battery Swapping Centre is one more initiative of the organization to support E-rikshaw drivers who cannot afford lithium ion batteries. It’s a pilot project in Varanasi (U.P), which provides fully charged lithium ion battery to E-rikshaw drivers on a minimum affordable price model. Once the battery charge is fully consumed, driver returns the discharged battery at swapping center and again gets the fully charged battery against it. The project has benefited e-rikshaw driver with better mileage, eventually leading to more income.
