    About the Role

    Hecho por Nosotros (HxN) is seeking a Youth Engagement, Research & Leadership Volunteer to contribute to the development and engagement of its youth community. The role combines social research, youth participation, leadership development, and community engagement, supporting initiatives that empower young people to actively contribute to sustainability, ethical fashion, social development, cultural heritage, and systemic change.

    The Volunteer will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and contribute to understanding their interests, perspectives, needs, and forms of participation. The role is particularly suited to someone with a background in social sciences and research, combined with practical experience working with young people and/or children in educational, community, volunteer, or social-impact settings.

    The key responsibilities of this position are as follows:

    The Volunteer will support research on youth participation, leadership, education, social engagement, and emerging interests among young people, drawing on relevant social science research, reports, and international initiatives. The role will contribute to the design and development of activities, projects, workshops, discussions, and collaborative spaces that encourage meaningful youth participation within HxN.

    The Volunteer will help identify opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, take on responsibilities, initiate projects, and contribute their perspectives to the organization's work. The role will also support engagement with children and young people through age-appropriate educational, participatory, and creative activities where relevant.

    The Volunteer may research youth trends, international youth initiatives, educational approaches, networks, organizations, and opportunities for collaboration, translating relevant findings into practical recommendations and initiatives. The role will contribute to webinars, campaigns, knowledge-sharing activities, and international exchanges addressing sustainability, ethical fashion, social innovation, cultural heritage, youth participation, and systemic change.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    Background in Psychology, Sociology, Education, Social Sciences, Anthropology, International Development, Sustainability, Youth Studies, or related fields.

    Academic or professional experience in social research, particularly research involving young people, children, communities, education, participation, or social development.

    Experience working directly with young people and/or children in educational, community, volunteer, research, extracurricular, or social-impact settings.

    Knowledge of youth development, participation, leadership, education, social inclusion, or community engagement.

    Ability to conduct qualitative or documentary research, identify relevant sources, and synthesize findings into clear recommendations.

    Ability to design or support age-appropriate, participatory, and engaging activities for children and young people.

    Experience with youth organizations, student organizations, volunteer communities, educational programs, community projects, or similar initiatives is an asset.

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with young people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

    Fluent English required; Spanish is an asset.
