We require volunteers to complete an orientation, background check, and drug screening prior to volunteering. We want to provide the best care possible for our patients.
Description
Comfort Care Calls
Every Wednesday our Volunteers call patients to determine if they need any supplies restocked before the weekend.
Our Clinical Staff ensures the supplies are gathered and delivered based on the reports from the Volunteers.
Companionship / Respite Visits
One of the most valuable Volunteer roles is offering companionship for patients and/or respite for their caregivers.
These visits allow caregivers the opportunity to run errands or take a much-needed break.
Just like our staff, our direct patient care Volunteers meet our patients where they are - in homes, nursing facilities, or our Hinkle Hospice House.
Duties may include reading, reminiscing, watching tv, or preparing a light meal for the patient.
Hinkle Hospice House
The Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House is the only inpatient facility in Davidson County.
This 12-bed facility operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with staff and Volunteers serving our patients.
Duties may include greeting guests, giving facility tours, assisting patients with meal selection, delivering snacks and drinks to patients and visitors, monitoring family rooms, or visiting with patients and their loved ones.
Holiday / Birthday Celebrations
At Hospice of Davidson County, we celebrate our patients at every opportunity!
Volunteers deliver gifts to patients on Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving, Veteran’s Day, and other special occasions such as birthdays.
