    Description

The Domestic Militarization Watch is a new initiative that tracks how military tactics, funding, and federal forces are being deployed within U.S. cities — often targeting marginalized communities. The project will publish reports, infographics, and educational materials to increase public awareness and mobilize action.

The Graphic Designer Volunteer will play a key role in shaping how this information reaches the public by creating clear, engaging, and visually compelling designs for reports, social media, and advocacy campaigns.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design infographics, charts, and maps visualizing data on domestic militarization and related human rights impacts.
    • Create branded graphics for social media posts, digital campaigns, and website content.
    • Collaborate with the Research and Human Rights Fellows to translate data and testimonies into accessible visuals.
    • Assist with layout and visual formatting for PEP’s Quarterly Militarization Report and advocacy briefs.
    • Maintain consistency with PEP’s brand identity (colors, fonts, logo placement, tone).
    • Provide creative input for multimedia storytelling, including short videos or animations (optional).

    Qualifications

    • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), or other design software.
    • Strong visual communication and layout skills.
    • Ability to translate complex ideas or data into accessible, emotionally resonant visuals.
    • Interest in social justice, peace, or human rights design.
    • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
    • Familiarity with data visualization, social media graphics, or infographic storytelling preferred.
