Make a Meaningful Difference as a Hospice Volunteer
Come join the Blue Water Hospice Volunteer Team!
Are you caring, compassionate, and interested in making a meaningful difference in someone’s life? Hospice volunteers provide companionship, encouragement, and support to patients and families during an important time in their lives.
At Blue Water Hospice, we provide volunteers with the training and preparation needed to feel comfortable and confident in their chosen volunteer role. No hospice experience is required.
Volunteer Opportunities
We welcome volunteers with many different interests, skills, and backgrounds. Opportunities may include:
- Visiting hospice patients and providing companionship
- Talking, listening, reading, playing games, or simply being present
- Providing support and companionship to family members and caregivers
- Sharing musical talents with patients
- Helping with office and administrative projects
- Assisting with special projects and community activities
- Using a special hobby, talent, or skill to bring enjoyment to patients
Whether you have a special ability you would like to share or simply enjoy spending time with people and hearing their stories, there may be a place for you on our volunteer team.
Our main office is located in Leander, but Blue Water Hospice serves patients throughout the greater Austin area, including communities from Georgetown to Kyle and surrounding areas. Volunteers can often be matched with opportunities closer to where they live.

Our Mission
We at Blue Water Hospice seek to provide premier, compassionate, and personalized care to people with life-threatening illnesses and their families while supporting the highest quality of life possible.
Our Approach to Hospice Care
At Blue Water Hospice, we believe one of the most important gifts we can offer another person is our presence.
We often think of our role as that of an accompanist. In music, an accompanist supports and enhances the music of another person without taking away from their individual voice. In the same way, we strive to support, encourage, and uplift each patient and family we serve.
Our volunteers are an important part of that mission. Sometimes volunteering means sharing a conversation, listening to someone's memories, playing a favorite game, sharing music, or simply sitting beside someone so they know they are not alone.
Blue Water Hospice was launched under Blue Water Homecare, which has served seniors and families in the Leander and greater Austin area since 2017. Our goal is to bring that same commitment to compassionate, personalized service to hospice patients and their loved ones.
If spending a little of your time bringing comfort, companionship, and encouragement to another person sounds meaningful to you, we would love to hear from you and welcome you to the Blue Water Hospice Volunteer Team.
