New Moon Farm Sanctuary is currently seeking volunteers for regular, weekly shifts. We ask new volunteers to commit to a 2 hour shift, once a week for at least 6 months. Hours are 2 hours between 9am and 6pm. After an initial orientation session, volunteers work independently on the farm. The shift tasks include basic chores such as cleaning the barns and pastures, scrubbing water tubs, picking up sticks and rocks in the fields, and of course, hanging with the animals! The number one job is walking the pastures picking up manure. It's definitely manual labor - you must be able to lift 40+ pounds, work with shovels, rakes and brooms, dump a full wheelbarrow and navigate uneven terrain.
The energy at New Moon is peaceful and positive. Working with your hands, surrounded by content animals is grounding. We have volunteers who have been coming to the farm weekly for many years, driving from over an hour away because it has become a sanctuary for them as well.
