    About SURUDEV

    Sustainable Run for Development (SURUDEV) is a Cameroon-based environmental organization working on forest conservation, biodiversity protection, and landscape restoration in the Bamenda Highlands. Our work focuses on community-led solutions to protect critical ecosystems and endangered species.

    Role Overview

    We are seeking a dedicated GIS Specialist Volunteer to support ongoing conservation projects through spatial analysis, mapping, and remote monitoring. This role is ideal for students, early-career professionals, or experienced GIS practitioners looking to apply their skills to meaningful, real-world conservation efforts.

    Key Responsibilities

      • Lead and coordinate GIS-based forest monitoring activities
      • Analyze spatial data to support conservation planning and decision-making
      • Produce clear, high-quality maps for reports, proposals, and advocacy
      • Use remote sensing tools and online datasets (e.g., satellite imagery)
      • Conduct remote monitoring of forest landscapes
      • Create and manage polygons for restoration sites and conservation areas

    Preferred Qualifications

      • Background in GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Science, or related field
      • Experience with tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, or Google Earth Engine
      • Ability to interpret satellite imagery and spatial datasets
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote setting
      • Interest in conservation, climate change, or community development
