Tech Sector Partnerships Advisor- SF Suicide Prevention Walk
Details
Description
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Greater San Francisco Bay Area Chapter is seeking a technology professional to join the final planning phase of the 2026 San Francisco Out of the Darkness Walk.
Held Saturday, September 19th at South Beach Harbor Park along the Embarcadero, the Walk is San Francisco’s signature community event supporting suicide prevention, mental health education, research, advocacy, and survivor support. You can check out the event and register FREE at afsp.org/sf.
This short-term committee appointment is designed for someone who can use their professional network, influence, and partnership experience to engage the Bay Area’s technology community. You will work alongside AFSP staff and volunteer leaders to create connections that can generate immediate support for the Walk and potentially grow into long-term partnerships.
How You Can Make an Impact
Depending on your experience and network, you may:
- Introduce AFSP to technology companies, startups, investors, founders, or industry leaders, particularly in the AI sector
- Recruit companies, employee resource groups, or workplace teams to participate in the Walk
- Identify prospective sponsors and help initiate conversations with decision-makers
- Engage leaders in corporate social responsibility, employee wellness, benefits, people operations, or community impact
- Encourage companies to promote the Walk internally or offer matching gifts
- Help AFSP reach professional associations, coworking communities, and technology networks
- Advise on compelling ways to engage technology employees around mental health and suicide prevention
We’re Looking for Someone Who
- Works in technology, AI, software, venture capital, startups, digital media, or a related field
- Has a strong professional network and enjoys connecting people with meaningful opportunities
- Has experience in partnerships, business development, fundraising, employee engagement, marketing, or corporate social impact
- Can independently pursue a focused set of outreach opportunities during the final month before the Walk
- Wants to use their professional influence to create measurable community impact
Professionals at any career stage are welcome, although this opportunity is particularly well suited to people with access to company leaders, employee communities, partnership teams, or philanthropic decision-makers.
Time Commitment
Approximately 2–4 flexible hours per week through September 19th, plus brief virtual committee check-ins as available. Most outreach can be completed remotely.
This is an opportunity to apply the relationship-building skills and reach of the Bay Area technology community to a deeply human challenge- and to help mobilize companies and professionals around hope, connection, and suicide prevention.
