    Description

    Handmade Letters for Senior Citizens

    Roots & Grounds, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering connection and engagement among senior citizens, is collecting handwritten notes, cards, and drawings to spread joy and positivity to senior citizens residing in retirement homes.

    This opportunity is open to all ages, families, individuals, and community groups who want to spread kindness and earn service hours by writing handwritten letters. Volunteers can write as many letters as desired, including:

    • Friendly greetings
    • Warm wishes
    • Encouraging words
    • Simple drawings
    • Riddles
    • Crosswords

    All letters must be handwritten and should not include religious and political content or glitter.

    Letters can be mailed to Roots & Grounds at 1119 Locust Road, Wilmette IL 60091. A return address is optional, but there are no expectations of reply. If volunteers would like to receive service hours, please fill out this short registration form (form link) before mailing the letters. A letter of certification will be emailed to volunteers once the cards are received in the mail.
