    Dress is business casual clothing. Must be comfortable answering phone calls and filling out online forms with information from the phone calls. Must be willing to attend and introductory orientation which will be followed by follow up training.

    Description

    Make a direct impact in the lives of those experiencing homelessness by becoming a Volunteer Front Desk Shelter Monitor at our center!

    We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and organized volunteers to be the welcoming face and essential first point of contact for our residents and guests. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, organized, and supportive environment in the shelter. This is not a full-time position and is meant to fill in for 1-4 hour periods while all other front desk staff is required for meetings/events.

    As a Volunteer Front Desk Shelter Monitor, you will play a vital role in the daily operation of the shelter by:

    • Greeting and directing residents, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Managing the sign-in/sign-out process for residents and monitoring security cameras to ensure the safety of the facility.
    • Answering and directing phone calls and taking messages accurately.
    • Distributing essential items (e.g., toiletries, linens) as needed.
    • Maintaining accurate logs of activities, incidents, and shift changes.
    • Upholding shelter guidelines and communicating important information clearly to residents.
