Street Outreach Volunteers for StandUp for Kids - San Diego support our mission to end the cycle of youth homelessness by connecting with on-the-street kids and homeless youth in need of services.
Street Outreach Volunteers are often the first line of contact with homeless youth.Working under the guidance of the Director of Street Outreach, the Street Outreach Volunteers visit local transportation stops, libraries, parks and other areas where street youth may congregate.Working always as part of a team, Street Outreach Volunteers provide street-based support to on-the-street kids and homeless youth including outreach food packs, hygiene kits, and counseling.Street Outreach Volunteers identify qualified referrals to the Outreach Center and provide overviews of the services that StandUp for Kids offers.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a variety of youth in different circumstances.Must be excellent listeners with good problem-solving skills.At all times Street Outreach Volunteers ensure safety by following risk reduction training. Prior experience is a bonus but not necessary; training is provided.
