    Description

    SOCIAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTEER/INTERN

    Hello from Friends-International

We’re looking for a SOCIAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTEER/INTERN

Looking to gain experience—or apply your existing skills—in business development with a purpose? Join Friends-International and help grow social businesses that create sustainable social impact.

Whether you are an experienced professional looking to contribute your skills to a meaningful cause, or a student/recent graduate seeking hands-on experience, this could be an opportunity for you.

    WE ARE

Friends-International (FI), an award-winning NGO founded in Phnom Penh in 1994, empowers children, youth, and their families to build brighter futures. Operating in Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Europe, we combine innovative services with social business models. Through our social businesses — vocational training enterprises (restaurants, cafés, salons, shops), ChildSafe Experiences, consultancies, and International Social Engagement Programs — we create sustainable impact for children and youth.

    THE ROLE

As a Social Business Development Volunteer/Intern based at our HQ in Phnom Penh, you will work closely with the Social Business Advisor and our Friends Social Business teams to support the development and growth of FI's social business initiatives. Your objectives:

    • Identify and develop new business opportunities by expanding Friends-International's network of potential clients, partners, and supporters.
    • Increase awareness and engagement with Friends-International's social businesses through outreach, networking, and relationship-building activities.
    • Contribute to the growth and sustainability of social businesses by supporting partnership development, stakeholder engagement, and promotional initiatives.

    WHAT YOU WILL GAIN

    • Practical experience in business development, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement
    • Exposure to social entrepreneurship, responsible tourism, and sustainable business models
    • Opportunities to work alongside experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds
    • Valuable networking opportunities across the NGO, tourism, education, and private sectors
    • First-hand experience of how social businesses create lasting opportunities for vulnerable children and youth

    Does this describe you?

    • A dynamic team player who is passionate about working for the protection and education of marginalized children, youth and their families
    • We welcome applications from both:
    • Early-career candidates, interns, and students who:
      • Want practical experience in business development, sales, marketing, partnerships, or social enterprise.
      • Enjoy meeting people and learning new skills
      • Are proactive, organized, and eager to contribute
    • Experienced professionals who:
      • Have experience in business development, sales, marketing, partnerships, tourism, hospitality, or related fields
      • Would like to use their skills to support a meaningful social mission
      • Enjoy building relationships and identifying opportunities for growth and impact
    • In addition, you should have:
      • Good written and spoken English
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
      • Confidence in engaging with new people
      • Good computer skills and online research abilities
      • At least 3 months availability

Sounds good!? Great! Please email your CV with your Cover Letter now to hr@friends-international.org and let’s talk more.

In compliance with our Child Protection Policy and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Policy, all applicants will undergo an extensive background check.
