    Food Closet Volunteers

    The Carmichael Food Closet is a drive-up and walk-up food distribution site for about 200 families in need per week. We've been serving the Carmichael community for more than 50 years, and it's all made possible by wonderful volunteers like YOU!

    Posted below are the three main volunteer opportunities we offer, but if you'd like to volunteer for a specific day/time not listed, please email us. We'll do our best to accomodate your availabilty.

    Primary Volunteer Shifts:

    • Morning Warehouse Shift (8:30-10:30a) - stocking shelves and prepping food bags; no client contact; team of 3-5 volunteers with direction from onsite leadership
    • Afternoon Distribution Shift (12:30-2:30p) - distribution of food bags to drive-up and walk-up clients; team of 4-8 volunteers with direction from onsite leadership. Volunteers must be prepared to work outside and have client contact.
    • Thursday Evening Distribution Shift (5:15-7:30p) - light packing and food distribution to drive-up and walk-up clients; team of 6-10 volunteers with direction from onsite leadership. Volunteers must be prepared to work outside and have client contact.

    • Morning Shift Volunteers help to organize and sort food items in the warehouse and fill bags of food.: Monday September 30, 2024 - 08:30 to 10:30 PST
    • Afternoon Shift Volunteers should be ready to work indoors and outdoors while distributing food bags to clients in their cars.: Monday September 30, 2024 - 12:15 to 14:30 PST
    • Evening Shift Volunteers should be ready to work indoors and outdoors as we distribute food bags to clients in their cars.: Monday September 30, 2024 - 17:15 to 19:15 PST
