    Description

Promote Healthy Waterways @ Peck Property - Join PCD's Mar. 7 Work Party!

Join PCD on Saturday, March 7th from 9 AM - 12 PM at the Peck Property in Puyallup, and help us protect local water quality, improve wildlife habitat, and support our important pollinators. Show your love for Pierce County's gorgeous green spaces and make a lasting positive impact on our region. Exact meeting location provided after signing up.

What will volunteers be doing at the event?

    • While the exact tasks at hand vary, our projects focus on improving the open spaces, forests, and parks in our local cities. Healthy ecosystems and thriving forests are vital to our community because they absorb and naturally filter rain water, produce clean oxygen, provide living spaces for wildlife, and create a place for people to connect with the outdoors.

In order to create healthy forests and riparian zones, the work can include:

    • Caring for existing plantings
    • Removing invasive plant species such as English ivy, Himalayan blackberry, Scotch broom, bindweed (aka Morning Glory), English holly, reed canary grass, etc.

For your safety and comfort please bring:

    • Clothing that can get dirty
    • Long pants and sleeves (we recommend layers)
    • Sturdy shoes (closed toed shoes required; please no sandals, Crocs, or flats)
    • Full water bottle!
