    About Translation Commons

    Translation Commons is a nonprofit public charity dedicated to bridging the digital divide by helping Indigenous and underrepresented communities digitize and preserve their languages. Through technology, education, localization, and volunteer collaboration, we support language communities worldwide.

    Position Overview

    We are looking for an experienced and data-driven Head of Traffic to lead Translation Commons’ audience growth efforts across organic, paid, referral, and partnership channels.

    This role is responsible for increasing website traffic, improving conversion rates, supporting volunteer recruitment and fundraising goals, and building a scalable acquisition strategy. The Head of Traffic will work closely with Content, Design, Product, and Marketing teams to ensure that traffic initiatives contribute directly to organizational impact.

    Responsibilities

    Traffic Growth Strategy

    • Develop and execute a multi-channel traffic growth strategy.
    • Identify opportunities to increase awareness, website visits, volunteer applications, and donations.
    • Prioritize channels based on performance, resources, and organizational goals.

    SEO & Organic Growth

    • Lead SEO initiatives across the website and blog.
    • Collaborate with content teams on keyword research and content planning.
    • Improve search visibility through on-page, technical, and content SEO.
    • Monitor search performance and identify growth opportunities.

    Analytics & Reporting

    • Track key marketing and website metrics.
    • Build and maintain dashboards using GA4, Search Console, Looker Studio, or similar tools.
    • Analyze user behavior and conversion funnels.
    • Provide actionable recommendations based on data.

    Conversion Optimization

    • Improve conversion rates for volunteer applications, donations, newsletters, and other key actions.
    • Analyze user journeys and identify friction points.
    • Recommend landing page, content, and UX improvements.

    Paid Traffic & Grants

    • Support and optimize Google Ad Grant campaigns.
    • Evaluate paid advertising opportunities when appropriate.
    • Monitor campaign performance and ROI.

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience in digital marketing, growth marketing, SEO, or performance marketing.
    • Strong understanding of Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and SEO principles.
    • Experience building marketing dashboards and reports.
    • Understanding of conversion optimization and user acquisition.
    • Ability to interpret data and turn insights into actions.
    • Experience with nonprofit, volunteer, open-source, education, or technology projects is a plus.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
