    Description

Slant’d is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, independent publishing house reimagining publishing to be more accessible, equitable, and joyful for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs). Built from the ground up by and for the AAPI community, we partner with undiscovered writers and artists to co-create vibrant works that spark curiosity, introspection, and joy. Since 2017, we’ve empowered 200+ AAPI creatives to find their voice and a greater sense of belonging — and we’re just getting started.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

Slant’d is looking for a Partnerships Manager to drive the success and sustainability of our programs by fostering strategic partnerships with AAPI organizations, brands, and sponsors, ensuring our programs remain accessible to all participants.

    SCOPE OF THE ROLE

This role reports to the Director of Brand & Marketing. This role does not have any direct reports (aka: you are not expected to manage anyone).

This is a fully-remote, volunteer role. We anticipate a commitment of approximately 4-5 hours per week, with some fluctuation during “busy” marketing moments (e.g., program announcements or publication launches).

This role is flexible around when work gets done, though some availability for team check-ins will be needed. You will be required to attend org-wide meetings (on a quarterly-ish basis), which are typically held on weeknights around 5 PM PST.

This role will begin in April 2026 and will last for at least 1 year, with the opportunity to discuss staying on afterwards.

    WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

Joining Slant’d means becoming part of something bigger: a collective of AAPI dreamers and doers who believe deeply in the power of storytelling. In addition to the meaningful work itself, you can expect:

    • Hands-on exposure to nonprofit marketing and portfolio-building work
    • Vibrant community of passionate, fun-loving creative humans who are fiercely committed to creating spaces for our community’s stories to shine
    • Slant’d publications and merch, including copies of our latest issue and invitations to Slant’d events
    • The chance to make a real impact in the AAPI community and independent publishing—the funding you help raise directly sustains the programs, publications, and spaces that help AAPIs feel seen, heard, and loved

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Strategic Outreach and Sponsorship: Cultivate and expand a network of potential partners, with a focus on AAPI organizations and brands, for partners / sponsors
      • Develop creative and impactful sponsorship strategies – co-marketing opportunities, wholesale/retail support, etc.
      • Secure funding and in-kind support for Slant’d Programs, publishing, etc.
      • Lead and secure intro meetings, coordinate logistics of sponsored items and funding, work with Program Managers or Publishing House for needs.
    • Relationship Building: Act as the primary point of contact and lay the groundwork for long-term partnerships by investing in foundational relationships with AAPI organizations and brands.
      • Note: This volunteer role is a higher touchpoint since it works with external partners and requires more flexibility in terms of hours leading up to our programs.
    • Sponsorship Material Development: Create compelling sponsorship decks to effectively communicate Slant'd's value proposition to potential partners in partnership with leadership and Brand & Marketing team
    • Sponsor Marketing: Work internally with the Brand and Marketing team to fulfill sponsorship marketing needs.
    • Community & Collaboration
      • Participation is meant to support alignment and operational continuity. This role keeps the “Slant’d engine” running and acts as key partners to leadership. This role is expected to:
        • Be connected year-round to relevant workstream(s)
        • Town Halls: Required
        • Team meetings: Required for your WS; collaborate cross-functionally as needed
        • Fundraising: Actively participate in at least one fundraising pathway and amplify org-wide initiatives (kickstarter, crowdsourcing)
        • Collaborates closely with manager; as well as leadership team on as needed basis
        • Proactively communicate capacity and scope concerns

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Passion for Slant’d, inclusive storytelling, or AAPI empowerment
    • 2+ years of experience in partnerships, sponsorships, fundraising, or a related field.
    • Strong self-starter with initiative who can manage a wide array of tasks and projects
    • Independent hustler who is comfortable working remotely (experience using productivity tech like Google Drive, Slack, and conference calls is critical)

    BONUS POINTS

    • Prior experience with AAPI organizations, brands, or storytelling initiatives.
    • Familiarity with sponsorship development, including crafting sponsorship packages or decks.
    • Background in event planning or managing community-focused programs.
