ABOUT LMI: The mission of Leadership Mission International is to develop a new generation of ethical women leaders by providing exceptional academics, leadership and community development experiences. We are a faith-based, U.S. nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and public charity. We work in Honduras through The Leadership Center, where we educate classes of 15-20 young women each year over the course of two years so that they will return to their communities as leaders, reinvest in their local economies, and initiate economic and ethical progress in Honduras. We, in part, see our mission at The Leadership Center as reflecting God’s love to those who we seek to serve. We practice and promote core leadership values throughout all levels of the organization.

    • ❖ We foster confidence, resilience & perseverance.
    • ❖ We inspire growth & transformation.
    • ❖ We build a faith-based community that is safe, diverse, & inclusive.
    • ❖ We practice personal initiative & leadership.
    • ❖ We act with courage & integrity.

We honor these values with the purpose of graduating women with strong hearts, strong minds, and strong voices who hold a renewed sense of power and many options for their future.

    ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP:

The Agriculture & Sustainable Living Fellowship is an immersive, hands-on learning and leadership experience for individuals passionate about sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and community-based learning.

Fellows live and work on LMI’s rural mountain campus, contributing to and learning from an integrated agricultural system that includes a coffee farm, vegetable gardens, composting systems, and livestock management (chickens, cows, and pigs). This fellowship blends practical responsibility with mentorship, collaboration, and experiential learning. The fellow supports students in developing agricultural knowledge, leadership skills, and sustainable living practices—while also growing personally and professionally through cross-cultural service and hands-on engagement.

    FELLOWSHIP PURPOSE:

As an Agriculture & Sustainable Living Fellow, you will support the growth, learning, and leadership development of LMI students through hands-on agricultural practice and environmental stewardship. By working alongside students in gardens, farms, and sustainable living systems, you will help cultivate practical skills, responsibility, and respect for the land. Your role will strengthen LMI’s commitment to food sustainability and clean living while equipping students to carry these practices back to their communities.

    KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

    Throughout the fellowship, participants will:

    • Develop practical skills in sustainable agriculture, food production, and environmental stewardship
    • Gain hands-on experience managing gardens, farms, and clean living systems in a rural context
    • Learn from Honduran farmers, educators, students, and community members through shared practice and knowledge exchange
    • Build mentorship, facilitation, and leadership skills by guiding students in agricultural projects
    • Experience rural, off-grid, and faith-centered community living rooted in sustainability and service

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fellows serve full-time and contribute in the following areas:

    • Facilitate 1–2 hours per day of agricultural learning that integrates theory and hands-on practice, engaging students in both classroom and on-site garden settings to explore crop cultivation, sustainable agriculture principles, and environmental stewardship through experiential, practice-based learning.
    • Support the development and implementation of experiential learning activities that integrate real-world agricultural practice with academic subjects and leadership formation.
    • Mentor and supervise students during gardening and farming projects, encouraging responsible agricultural practices, curiosity, and long-term interest in sustainable food systems.
    • Contribute to the care and management of campus gardens, supporting planting, watering, pest control, harvesting, and overall garden health and productivity.
    • Assist with responsible resource stewardship, including tools, seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural supplies, modeling sustainability and organization.
    • Walk alongside students in mentorship, encouraging personal growth, leadership development, and goal-setting through relational support and example.
    • Collaborate with LMI staff and fellows to support student development, agricultural initiatives, and a positive, mission-aligned campus culture.
    • Optional: Participate in and/or help lead ministry activities and events on campus, contributing to the holistic life of the LMI community.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

This fellowship is well-suited for applicants who:

    • Are passionate about sharing agricultural knowledge through hands-on, participatory learning
    • Are committed to sustainable and self-sustaining agriculture and clean living practices
    • Are eager to learn from local knowledge, campus staff, and surrounding communities
    • Are motivated to support the holistic growth and leadership development of students
    • Value building long-term, respectful relationships across cultures

    Preferred, not required:

    • Fluent or Native English
    • Experience living or working in multicultural contexts
    • Experience mentoring young leaders

    FELLOWSHIP BENEFITS:

    • On-campus room and board provided as part of the residential fellowship experience
    • Private transportation to and from Comayagua airport or Zambrano at the beginning and end of the fellowship term.
    • Basic hygiene and healthcare needs provided during the fellowship period

One of the great benefits of The Leadership Center is its safe, rural environment, where we practice sustainable agriculture and engage in clean living practices. TLC does not have the infrastructure of a university in the developed world: quite the contrary. You will live off the grid. Sometimes, electricity, water, or Wi-Fi will go out. If you can go with the flow, improvise, and smile when things do not go as planned, you will help contribute to the positive atmosphere.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submissions are encouraged. LMI welcomes candidates of all backgrounds and is committed to building a diverse, multicultural cohort of fellows.
