About the Role

At Sunset Hospice, we believe that no one should face life’s final journey alone. We are looking for kind, compassionate volunteers to join our team and bring comfort, joy, and companionship to individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Your simple presence—a listening ear, a shared story, or a quiet moment of support—can profoundly transform a difficult time into a deeply meaningful one.

How You’ll Make an Impact

We want you to use your unique strengths! Your volunteer experience can include:

• Providing Companionship: Share conversations, assist with life reviews, read aloud, play games, or simply offer a comforting, quiet presence.
• Sharing Your Talents: Bring joy to patients through art, music, or other creative hobbies.
• Supporting Caregivers: Offer a supportive shoulder and a much-needed emotional break to family members.
• Behind-the-Scenes Help: Assist our team with light administrative tasks or support our bereavement programs (if interested).

Who We’re Looking For

• Empathetic Souls: You are caring, reliable, and deeply compassionate.
• Active Listeners: You feel comfortable holding space and offering emotional support to patients and their loved ones.
• No Medical Experience Required! All you need is an open heart and a willingness to help.

Training & Support

You will never be left in the dark. All volunteers receive comprehensive training to ensure you feel fully prepared and confident in your role. You will also receive ongoing guidance from our tight-knit hospice team, plus a transportation stipend to help cover your travel.

Time Commitment

We know your time is valuable, so we work with your schedule! Whether you can give a few hours a week or a few hours a month, we offer highly flexible hours to fit your life.
