We are seeking an experienced software engineer to help build and maintain WildePod, our cloud-based platform for processing camera-trap images. Identifying humans, mountain lions, bobcats, and other animals captured by trail cameras is central to our ecosystem research and conservation efforts. Our software annotates these images through a mix of automated detection and crowdsourced species identification.

This is primarily a software engineering role: building backend services in Django, working with our PostgreSQL database and image pipelines, and developing the tooling our researchers rely on. Part of the work involves integrating machine learning models (MegaDetector, SpeciesNet) to detect and classify animals. We’re looking for an engineer who is comfortable working with production systems. Experience with cloud infrastructure (especially Google Cloud) is a plus.
