Safe Tonight — Women’s and Children’s Shelter - Volunteer Donation Coordinator

Safe Tonight Shelter is seeking dependable and organized volunteers to assist with receiving, sorting, and organizing donated items for women, children, and families residing at the shelter. Volunteers help ensure donations are properly handled, stored, and made available to meet the needs of shelter residents.

Responsibilities

• • Receive donated items from individuals, organizations, and community partners.
  • Sort donations by type, size, and intended use.
  • Inspect clothing, linens, and other donated items for cleanliness and suitability.
  • Organize and store donations in designated areas.
  • Sort and organize clothing, linens, toiletries, paper goods, and diapers.
  • Maintain an organized donation area and inventory of available supplies.
  • Identify items that are damaged, unsuitable, or in need of special handling.
  • Communicate donation needs and supply shortages to shelter staff.
  • Follow shelter guidelines for handling donations and protecting resident privacy.

Qualifications

• • Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a volunteer team.
  • Comfortable lifting and moving boxes or bags of donated items.
  • Respectful of shelter residents and their personal circumstances.
  • Willing to follow shelter policies and staff instructions.
  • Previous experience in donations, inventory, retail, or organizing is helpful but not required.
