Comms Collective Creator

Role Summary

The Comms Collective is a semester‑based cohort of students and early‑career creatives who contribute to the Task Force for Democracy’s digital storytelling, press work, and multimedia output. In this role, you will take on discrete projects (short‑form videos, graphics, statements, photo editing, campaign‑specific content) based on interest and skill. This model expands our creative bench, diversifies the voices representing TFD online, and reduces bottlenecks for core comms staff.

Collective members complete a minimum number of projects per semester, collaborate with social leads, and receive feedback and guidance from the Comms Director and social media team. Key Responsibilities

• Campaign Collaboration: Work with social leads to translate campaign needs into compelling digital content.
• Creative Ownership: Take initiative on assigned projects, propose creative approaches, and meet deadlines.
• Team Engagement: Attend periodic Collective meetings with Communications Director to review news cycles, brainstorm content, and align on priorities.
• (Social Media) Create short‑form videos, graphics, captions, and draft posts for review by social leads.
• (Writing & Press) Draft statements, assist with press research, and help prepare pitches when needed for review by the Communications Director.
• (Multimedia) Capture action photos, edit images, film and edit video content, and support rapid‑response creative needs.

Eligibility & Skills

• Interest and experience in social media, graphic design, writing, press, photography, videography, or editing.
• Excited to tell stories about how young people are organizing against authoritarianism & for a more just and inclusive democracy.
• Passionate about building power to win a democracy that works for our generation — not corporations and billionaires.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and respond to feedback.
• Commitment to completing between 2-5 projects per semester (depending on role).
• Passion for democracy, civic engagement, and digital storytelling.

About the Task Force for Democracy

We’re a youth & volunteer-led team organizing students across 6 campaigns to demand a democracy that works for our generation — not billionaires & corporations! We work alongside movement partners to center young people in the fight against advancing autocracy.

We don’t focus on partisan politics or electing candidates. We organize to end inequities in our electoral system and win a democracy our generation can be proud of!

We know that true democracy cannot only exist at the ballot box, but must be present in the workplace, and in our education. Our campaigns aim to end structural inequality across different areas of our democracy, and include: fighting voter suppression & money in politics, organizing students under autocracy, stopping a dangerous constitutional convention that would roll back our rights, using transparency laws to hold power accountable, and more!
