Do you want to make a difference?
We're building an archive for all possible solutions to all problems, with all things. It also has experimental new tools that let communities collaborate with experts, and make decisions. After years of hard work the tech is finally going online, and now we need volunteers.
And to help us with that we're looking for coordinators. People we can count on to welcome in new volunteers, and help us maintain and build community with existing ones.
There's a number of things we'll need in terms of volunteer coordination, but we don't need anyone to do all of them, if there's one thing that appeals to you let us know.
If that sounds good to you please please include a little about what you want to get out of this, and what you can commit to. We've noticed that people come to Needpedia to do anything from pad their resume, to fight for sustainability or equality. And ironically both extremes have their pros and cons, and at the end of the day we really just need to know what we can count on you for. And that we can collectively ensure quality, which for Needpedia is not about professionalism, it is about efficacy. -For instance on Needpedia we use plain English to make it easier for everyday people to participate. And we'll also use Needpedia to understand it's own flaws, and improve them. Or at least that's what I'll be doing, volunteer coordinators are totally welcome to just hang out with and support volunteers. Everyone's free to do what feels right to them.
The only catch is that volunteer coordinators end up with a lot of access to other volunteer's personal information, so a background check might be requested. Just to protect the other volunteers. It's also important to make sure you're up to speed about how the site works and other things so I'd want to schedule at least one teleconference. -It might be good to hold optional weekly or semi-weekly digital gatherings as well, to help folks get to know each other better too.
