    Description

Legend Hospice is looking to build a team of individuals who see the blessing in sitting vigil with dieing patients. This is a special calling and it will bless those who are willing. I personally find vigil cathardic and reflective.

When a patient is in their final days, our RN Case Managers will offer vigil volunteers to sit with the patient around the clock (or as much as we are able). Often standing in for family members who are traviling to the patient, who are unable to sustain long visits or are simply not present.

This is an opportunity to provide the ministry of presence, read spiritual texts, moisten lips, play music, count respirations or even pray silently.

We always respect the patient and families previously communicated desires and spiritual requests. This is NOT an evangelical opportunity.

    Orientation and training provided.
