    Description

The Harriet Beecher Stowe House is recruiting Volunteer Educators for the 2026 Season.

This house bears witness to generations joining their voices for truth in the nation's struggle toward freedom and humanity for all.

Join us and share the stories about our two significant periods in history:

    • 1840 when abolitionist author Harriet Beecher Stowe lived in Cincinnati as a young teacher and mother preparing to write the blockbuster antislavery novel Uncle Tom's Cabin.
    • 1940 when African American proprietor Irene Bacon managed the house as the Edgemont Inn--a boarding house during the Great Migration and tavern listed in the Green Book.

Orientation and training scheduled at the Stowe House for two dates in January:

    • Thursday, January 22 at 5:30 p.m.
    • Saturday, January 24 at 1 p.m.

Select one date/time that works best in your schedule.
