    Description

The Gracefull Table Community Kitchen is looking for a few committed individuals to join our growing Board of Directors as Members-at-Large.

We're a young nonprofit building from the ground up, which means this is an opportunity to do more than join an established board—you'll have an opportunity to help shape what this organization becomes.

The Gracefull Table Community Kitchen provides free, freshly prepared meals and restaurant-style hospitality to people experiencing food insecurity and neighbors in need.

We're currently building our First Sundays Community Dinner program while working toward our long-term vision of establishing a permanent pay-what-you-can community restaurant.

We're looking for people who believe in the mission and are excited about helping us build the organization thoughtfully, responsibly, and sustainably.

    What Is a Board Member-at-Large?

A Member-at-Large is a full voting member of our Board of Directors who does not currently hold an officer position such as Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, or Treasurer.

Members-at-Large participate in board discussions and decisions, vote on matters before the board, help provide oversight and accountability, and contribute their individual skills, experience, connections, and ideas to help advance the organization.

    Instructions:

    How to Express Interest

Please express your interest through Idealist and tell us a little about yourself.

    We'd especially like to know:

    • Why The Gracefull Table's mission interests you
    • Why you're interested in serving on a working nonprofit board
    • What professional, personal, or community experience you believe you could bring to the organization
    • What areas of the organization you'd be most interested in helping with
    • Whether you're able to attend monthly meetings in Garland
    • Whether you've previously served on a nonprofit board (experience is not required)

We're looking for people who want to help us build the table.

Previous nonprofit board experience is not required.

We would rather find someone who genuinely cares about the mission and is willing to learn than limit our board to people who have served on boards before.
