    Description

    The Light We Carry Foundation

    Remote | Approximately 5 hours/week | Flexible Schedule

Volunteer Position | Opportunity for Future Growth

Looking to onboard as soon as possible

The Light We Carry Foundation is a nonprofit supporting families experiencing pregnancy, infant, and child loss through financial assistance, remembrance, resources, and community.

As our founder prepares to take time away to welcome a new baby and be with her family, we are looking for a warm, proactive, and organized volunteer to help keep relationships and opportunities moving forward.

This isn't just an administrative role. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and believes relationships should always come before fundraising.

    What You'll Help With

    • Community relationships: Thoughtfully connect and engage with grieving mothers and families in online communities, groups, and conversations. This is about listening, supporting, and building genuine relationships — never marketing to someone in their grief.
    • Partnership outreach: Research and connect with businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, grief resources, healthcare organizations, and others who may be natural partners for our mission.
    • Media & speaking opportunities: Find podcasts, publications, radio, television, community events, and other opportunities where our founder or Foundation could share our story and mission. Help with initial outreach and follow-up.
    • Inbox & follow-up: Occasionally monitor the Foundation inbox, respond to routine messages, flag important items, and help make sure opportunities and conversations don't fall through the cracks.
    • Volunteer support: Check in with our existing volunteers, including our social media volunteer, and help make sure they have what they need while our founder is less available.
    • Keep relationships organized: Maintain a simple record of contacts, conversations, opportunities, and next steps so we can continue building each relationship intentionally.

    Who We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you are:

    • Warm, compassionate, and comfortable talking with people
    • A strong written communicator
    • Proactive — you notice opportunities and aren't afraid to reach out
    • Organized and dependable
    • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
    • Sensitive and respectful when communicating with grieving families
    • Someone who believes helping people comes before promoting an organization

Nonprofit experience is wonderful, but not required. We care much more about finding the right person who connects with our mission and wants to help us build something meaningful.

    Time Commitment

Approximately 5 hours per week, with a flexible schedule. We're looking for someone who can begin onboarding as soon as possible.

    Opportunity to Grow

This is currently an unpaid volunteer position. As The Light We Carry Foundation grows and funding allows, there may be an opportunity for this role to evolve into a larger and potentially paid position. Future employment is not guaranteed, but we would love to find someone who is excited about growing alongside the Foundation.

    About The Light We Carry

Our mission is simple: to make sure families experiencing unimaginable loss know that their child mattered, their story matters, and they don't have to carry their grief alone.

    Honoring every story. every light.
