    Description

Service Project Host on the USS Midway

    SERVICE PROJECT HOST:

The primary task is to greet volunteer groups on the pier, bring them aboard the ship, give them specific tasks and prepare letters of appreciation thanking them for their volunteer efforts.

The USS Midway Museum welcomes groups of 10 or more to come aboard for volunteer service. Groups are from military, corporate, social, educational, and other organizations. These are one-day(morning) projects to support the museum while providing an outlet for team-building. Groups work for about 3 hours and then have the opportunity to explore the museum.

The host provides a brief talk to the group to provide instruction/hospitality/context. Letters of appreciation are prepared and presented to the participants. Host also helps to keep the project supply inventory in check.

Time Commitment: One-two projects per month for at least 6 months. Weekends only.

Requirements: strong communication skills, the ability to climb ladders and a basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with the museum, and/or the Navy and carriers is ideal.
