    Description

    Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment

    1. Sit and socialize with participants
      1. Play cards, bingo, trivia, board games, or puzzles
      2. Read aloud (books, newspapers, devotionals)
      3. Assist with arts and crafts activities Help facilitate music, dancing, or sing-alongs
      4. Escort participants to activities within the center
      5. Encourage participation from quieter or isolated participants
    2. Meal & Dining Assistance
      1. Provide companionship during meals
    3. Assist staff with organizing activity materials
      1. Help with bulletin boards/newsletters
      2. Celebrate holidays and special events
      3. Assist during community outings (with supervision)
    4. Must be at least 18 years old
    5. Must have an interest in working with older adults and individuals with disabilities
    6. Should be friendly, compassionate, and have a respectful demeanor
    7. Good communication and interpersonal skills
    8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
    9. Reliable attendance and punctuality
    10. Ability to follow staff direction and safety procedures
    11. Comfortable working in a team environment
    12. Ability to engage participants in conversation and activities

    Who will be served by this assignment? PACE participants (ages 55+)

    What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service? Volunteers at a PACE day center can play a huge role in improving participant engagement, socialization, and overall quality of life. Since PACE participants are older adults who often have complex medical and social needs, volunteers should focus on supportive, non-clinical activities that enhance the participant experience while complementing staff roles.

    What specific skills will the volunteer need? Physically able to perform light duties such as walking, standing, pushing activity carts, or carrying light supplies
