    Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum

    Thank you for volunteering to help care for the historic gardens at the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum. Garden volunteers play an essential role in preserving the museum grounds while creating a beautiful and welcoming environment for visitors and supporting educational programming.

    Rose Pruning & Garden Care

    Responsibilities:

    • Prune rose bushes using proper techniques and safety practices.
    • Remove spent blooms (deadheading) to encourage healthy growth.
    • Fertilize and water roses as needed.
    • Monitor for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
    • Clean up fallen branches and garden debris.
    • Help preserve the museum's historic rose garden throughout the year.

    Vegetable Cultivation

    Responsibilities:

    • Plant, water, and harvest seasonal vegetables and herbs.
    • Prepare garden beds for seedlings.
    • Monitor plant health and report signs of pests or disease.
    • Assist with composting and sustainable gardening practices.
    • Harvest produce for educational programs and community use.

    Weeding & Landscape Maintenance

    Responsibilities:

    • Remove weeds from garden beds, pathways, and landscaped areas.
    • Maintain clean and attractive planting areas.
    • Spread mulch to help reduce weed growth and retain soil moisture.
    • Assist with seasonal garden clean-up projects.
    • Help maintain safe and accessible walking paths for visitors.

    Special Projects

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist with planting new flowers, shrubs, and trees.
    • Support restoration and beautification projects throughout the museum grounds.
    • Assist with preparing gardens for special events and educational programs.
    • Help organize gardening tools, supplies, and storage areas.

    From the 405 Freeway

    • Take the Alameda Street exit.
    • Head north on Alameda Street.
    • Continue approximately 1 mile.
    • The museum entrance will be on the right.

    From the 710 Freeway

    • Exit at Del Amo Boulevard.
    • Head west on Del Amo Boulevard.
    • Turn right (north) onto Alameda Street.
    • Continue approximately ½ mile.
    • The museum entrance will be on the right.

    From the 110 Freeway

    • Take the Del Amo Boulevard exit.
    • Head east on Del Amo Boulevard.
    • Turn left (north) onto Alameda Street.
    • Continue approximately ½ mile.
    • The museum entrance will be on the right.

    Parking

    Free parking is available around the museum's historic rose garden. Please park head-first in the marked spaces. During special events, additional parking may be available on the lower grounds, while upper parking is typically reserved for accessible parking.
