The purpose of the Fair Housing Testing Program is to identify unlawful housing discrimination based on race, sex, gender, national origin, religion, disability, or familial status. We want to make sure that those with power in housing are not in violation of the Fair Housing Act during their daily practices. The role of a tester is to help detect housing discrimination. A tester is similar to a mystery shopper! You'll play the role of a home seeker to observe and document the ordinary business practices of housing providers, lenders, insurance companies, and others. As a tester, you may be asked to pose as a person who is interested in renting an apartment, buying a home, applying for financing to purchase housing, inquiring about property insurance for a home, or using other types of housing services. If you are located in Alabama, you will be able to conduct on-site visits. If you are not located in Alabama, you are still eligible to conduct your test through phone. Testing phone assignments and on-site visits may last up to 30 minutes regularly. After completing an assignment fully, you are eligible to receive more paid assignments.
Our central goal is to create inclusive communities in Alabama!
