Sunday, 11/22 - Restoration Planting at Kayak Point Regional Park!

Join staff and volunteers to plant our restoration area at Kayak Point Regional Park! Ivy and blackberry are both encroaching on the parking lots at Kayak Point, making the workload much higher for Parks operations and maintenance crews. Not only do the weeds make more work for staff, but they also endanger the forest at the park. This forest is especially important since the large trees stabilize the steep hillside by soaking up stormwater, preventing erosion, slowing down wind speeds, and more benefits. At this work party, we'll focus on planting native shrubs in our restoration area next to the overflow lot. These shrubs grow slower, provide valuable wildlife habitat, and will be easier for our staff to manage. Volunteers will get a waived parking fee for the day!

Please wear long sleeves and long pants that you don't mind getting dirty, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Bring a full water bottle and a snack. Hand tools and gloves will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish. Remember to bring rain gear if rain is in the forecast.

Safety note: This work party will be rescheduled if wind gusts over 25 mph are expected. Registrants will be notified in advance.
