    Position Overview

    Techrity is seeking a creative, user-focused, and passionate Volunteer UI/UX Designer to join our team. The Volunteer UI/UX Designer will contribute to the design and improvement of digital products and experiences that support Techrity’s programmes, initiatives, and community.

    The ideal candidate should be passionate about creating intuitive, accessible, and engaging digital experiences and be excited about using design to solve real problems and improve how people interact with technology.

    Responsibilities

    User Experience Design:

    • Conduct user research to understand the needs, behaviours, and challenges of Techrity’s target users.
    • Develop user personas, user journeys, information architecture, and user flows where required.
    • Identify usability challenges and propose thoughtful design solutions.
    • Translate user and business requirements into clear and intuitive digital experiences.

    UI Design & Prototyping:

    • Design intuitive and visually engaging interfaces for websites, platforms, and digital products.
    • Create wireframes, high-fidelity designs, interactive prototypes, and design specifications.
    • Develop responsive designs across desktop, tablet, and mobile experiences.
    • Ensure designs are accessible, consistent, and aligned with Techrity’s brand identity.

    Design Systems & Consistency:

    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of reusable UI components and design systems.
    • Ensure consistency across digital products and platforms.
    • Apply appropriate typography, spacing, colour, interaction patterns, and visual hierarchy.

    Collaboration & Implementation:

    • Work closely with developers, product/project teams, and other designers to translate concepts into functional digital experiences.
    • Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and team discussions.
    • Communicate design decisions clearly and incorporate feedback throughout the design process.
    • Support developers during implementation by providing design specifications and clarifications where necessary.

    Research & Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay informed about current UI/UX trends, tools, methodologies, and accessibility standards.
    • Gather and incorporate feedback to improve existing designs and user experiences.
    • Contribute ideas for improving Techrity’s digital products and the overall user experience.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated experience in UI/UX design through professional work, freelance projects, internships, personal projects, or similar experience.
    • Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with other relevant design tools.
    • Understanding of user-centred design principles and UX research methodologies.
    • Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity interface designs.
    • Good understanding of responsive design and accessibility principles.
    • Strong visual design and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to receive feedback and iterate on designs.
    • Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines.
    • Passion for technology, design, and creating solutions that improve people's lives.
    • A portfolio showcasing relevant UI/UX projects is required.
