    The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) San Diego is looking for enthusiastic, empathetic and committed volunteers to work as Budgeting Counselors in our office located on Naval Base San Diego.

    Our team works with military members and their families assessing their financial needs, developing spending plans, and assisting with interest free loans, grants, and other resources. As a Budgeting Counselor, you will serve as an ambassador and advocate to help clients with their immediate financial needs.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Analyze client requests for financial assistance
    • Assist clients in creating a personal spending plan for their family
    • Collaborate with staff members and experienced counselors to determine the best course of action for assistance
    • Provide financial assistance within casework policies
    • Maintain compassion, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Commit to the team for a minimum of 6 months
    • Complete NMCRS Orientation and Training
    • Basic computer skills
    • Be able to work collaboratively with a variety of personalities, including staff, clients and fellow volunteers
    • Must complete Client Services Specialist training first (approx. 1-2 months)
