    Description

    Our Relief Committee is the heart of all we do, made of volunteers who screen requests from eligible applicants looking for financial assistance, and provides guidance and hands-on support to people facing crisis or destitution. The Director - Relief is their voice and advocate; ensuring our volunteers have everything they need and reporting successes to the Board.

    Duties include:

    • Oversight of Relief Committee and ensuring efficient operational delivery;
    • Maintaining regular contact with volunteers on the Relief Committee; monitoring their wellbeing, and be available to discuss complex cases or concerns;
    • Attendance at quarterly Board Meetings;
    • Preparing reports for the Board and Annual General Meetings;
    • Identifying opportunities for collaboration with local charities, partnerships and maintaining good relationships.

    Suitable candidates for the Director - Relief will:

    • Demonstrate a keen interest in the purpose and mission of BCS, with kindness and compassion for those BCS assists;
    • Be kind and compassionate, with a positive outlook and the ability to work well in a team;
    • Ideally have a background in social services, poverty, or working with vulnerable populations;
    • Be located centrally in the region (MA preferred), or willing to travel as needed;
    • Be welcoming to all regardless of race, age, gender, sexuality, ability, or religious beliefs.
