Hospice Volunteer Opportunity – Gentle Companionship
Some hospice patients live with memory loss or dementia and simply need someone to sit with them and bring calm companionship.
Volunteers provide comfort through simple, meaningful moments such as:
Looking at pictures together
Listening to music
Using activity or sensory blankets
Holding a hand or sitting quietly
Offering a peaceful presence
You don’t need medical experience. Just patience, kindness, and a calm heart. Many volunteers find these visits to be quiet, meaningful, and deeply rewarding.
Training and support are provided.

Hospice Volunteer Requirements
Hospice volunteers must complete an application and attend volunteer training before beginning visits. A Kansas background check is required and requires a Social Security number to complete the form.
If you plan to drive to patient visits, a valid driver’s license and auto insurance with your name listed on the policy are required.
Volunteers choose their schedule and patient assignments. Most volunteers provide about 10 hours of service per month. Training and ongoing support are provided by the hospice team.
