    Location: Remote

    Type: Volunteer

    About Mentor A Promise

Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a youth-centered nonprofit dedicated to supporting students ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, social-emotional learning, academic enrichment, and creative expression, we create safe, consistent, and empowering spaces for young people to grow, thrive, and succeed. We believe every child deserves a promise kept — and we work every day to make that promise real.

    Role Overview

We are seeking a Volunteer HR Data & Analytics Specialist to strengthen MAP’s human resources systems through data collection, tracking, and reporting. This role will focus on monitoring volunteer hours, engagement levels, retention rates, and HR performance trends. The specialist will help MAP’s leadership use data-driven insights to improve recruitment, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collect, organize, and maintain HR-related data, including volunteer hours, retention rates, and staffing metrics
    • Develop dashboards and reports that track key HR performance indicators (KPIs)
    • Analyze engagement and performance trends to support HR decision-making
    • Collaborate with HR leadership to ensure accurate volunteer and staff records
    • Provide data insights to improve recruitment, onboarding, and engagement strategies
    • Support compliance and reporting requirements with accurate data management
    • Recommend improvements to HR systems and data collection processes

    Requirements

    • Experience in data analysis, HR analytics, or nonprofit operations (volunteer or professional)
    • Strong proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas, charts)
    • Familiarity with HR metrics such as volunteer retention, engagement, and performance tracking
    • Ability to analyze and communicate data clearly to non-technical stakeholders
    • High attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Commitment to MAP’s mission and values

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio, or similar)
    • Familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS) or CRM platforms
    • Knowledge of nonprofit HR or volunteer management systems
    • Background in statistics, business analytics, or human resources

    What You’ll Gain

    • Hands-on experience applying data analytics in a nonprofit HR setting
    • Opportunities to strengthen reporting, visualization, and HR decision-support skills
    • Collaboration with a passionate and mission-driven HR and leadership team
    • A portfolio of dashboards, reports, and systems demonstrating social-impact analytics
    • Letters of recommendation and professional references for future opportunities
