    Description

An attorney volunteer will assist patients or the family who usually do not have the means to hire a lawyer. Currently assignments are mostly virtual or are done with a safe social distance and masking/or window visits.

The attorney will assist the family with completing (and notarizing, if necessary) simple legal documents such as simple wills, living wills, powers or attorney for finance or medical, or simple transfers of deeds.

Volunteers must have an active law license. They will be servicing families without financial means who need to secure simple legal documents, often part of completing their end of life planning. This will help the patient know that their final arrangements are set: Who will make their medical decisions when they are no longer capable, have a living will so that the person's medical team knows what their wishes are, and have other legal documents in place while they are still able to make those decisions for themselves.
