    Description

    OnCare Honors Volunteer (Omaha, NE)

    Respectfully celebrate patients who are veterans, recognize their contributions to America's freedom, say "thank you" for a job well done, and address the unique challenges that may exist in end-of-life care for military families.

    Primary Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities may include, but not limited to the following:

    1. Promote and practive the Hospice mission and values and follow policies and procedures for OnCare Hospice.
    2. Offer veterans the opportunity to choose from various services tailored for them such as companionship, recgonition ceremonies, life legacies, comfort services, family caregiver support, and grief support.
    3. Perform pinning ceremonies for veteran patients.
    4. Facilitate life legacy projects.

    Time Commitment: There is no minimum number of hours to volunteer, OnCare is happy to utilize whatever you are able to commit. Direct patient care is typically a 1-2 hour commitment per week in order to successfuly build rapport with the patient and their family. Timing is flexible. We can utilize volunteers any time of day or night, during the week, on weekends and on holidays.

    Educational/Professional: Successful completion of 7 hour online OnCare volunteer training. Training is web-based and done at your own pace. After completion of the online training, volunteers will complete visits with the Volunteer Coordinator until they feel comfortable performing visits independently. In order to perform pinning ceremonies, the volunteer must be a US Military Veteran or active duty member.
