    Description

Give a Caregiver Two Hours of Hope

Sometimes the greatest gift isn't medical care - its simply giving someone a chance to breathe.

Baptist Hospice of North Mississippi is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide two-hour respite visits for patients receiving hospice care in their own homes.

During your visits, you'll stay with the patient while their spouse, adult child, or other family caregiver takes a much needed break.

Your two hours could allow a caregiver to:

    • Take a peaceful walk
    • Attend church
    • Meet a friend for coffee
    • Run errands
    • Keep a doctor's appointment
    • Or simply enjoy a little quiet time to recharge.

You don't have to provide hands on medical care. Your presence, conversation, reading aloud, listening to music together, watching television, or simply sitting quietly with someone offers comfort and reassurance while giving a caregiver permission to step away without worry.

No one should have to carry the weight of caregiving alone.

If you have a compassionate heart and can give just a few hours each month, you can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of two people at once - the patient and the one who loves them.

Training is provided, and our hospice team will support you every step of the way.

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

We would absolutely love to have you be a part of our team! Please note that a background check, drug screen and Mantoux two-step TB test is a normal part of onboarding process. Also, when you apply online, if you will mark BATESVILLE as the location so that your online application will be sent to our main office first that would be most helpful.
