    Description

    Social Media Strategy Advisor

Social Media Strategy Advisor – Volunteer

Help a nonprofit grow its reach and make a meaningful difference for families!

    About the Opportunity

Helping the Behaviorally Challenged Child (HBCC) is seeking an experienced social media marketing professional to serve as a volunteer Social Media Strategy Advisor.

We are a small nonprofit with a big mission: helping parents and caregivers better understand and support children with challenging behaviors.

We have valuable programs, educational resources, and a dedicated team. What we need is someone who can help us reach more families and build a stronger online presence.

We're not looking for someone to manage our daily social media posts. We have volunteers helping with content creation and posting. Instead, we're looking for an experienced advisor who can help us develop a strategy, guide our efforts, and make our social media outreach more effective.

    How You Can Help

We're looking for guidance in several key areas:

    Develop a Social Media Strategy

    • Help identify our target audiences and the best ways to reach them (our classes are in-person).
    • Recommend which social media platforms deserve our attention.
    • Develop a practical strategy that fits a small nonprofit's resources.

    Build Engagement and Community

    • Recommend ways to grow our audience and encourage meaningful engagement.
    • Help us create content that connects with parents, caregivers, educators, and professionals.
    • Identify opportunities to expand our reach through community partnerships and referrals.

    Guide Our Volunteer Team

    • Provide direction and feedback to volunteers creating and scheduling content.
    • Help establish content themes, messaging guidelines, and best practices.
    • Share tools and techniques that make social media management easier and more effective.

    Measure What Works

    • Help us understand which metrics matter.
    • Recommend simple ways to evaluate engagement, reach, and results.
    • Guide us in adjusting our approach based on what we learn.

    Who We're Looking For

    Our ideal volunteer has:

    • Professional experience in social media marketing, digital marketing, or communications strategy.
    • Experience developing strategies that grow audiences and increase engagement.
    • A working understanding of Facebook and Instagram, including Meta's business tools.
    • The ability to translate marketing knowledge into practical, manageable recommendations.
    • Strong communication skills and an interest in mentoring others.
    • An appreciation for the work of nonprofits and community organizations.

3-5 years experience required, experience working with nonprofits is a plus, but not required.

    What Makes This Opportunity Different?

This is an advisory role, not a content production position.

You'll have the opportunity to apply your professional expertise to help shape the direction of our social media efforts, mentor enthusiastic volunteers, and make a lasting contribution to an organization supporting families.

We value practical ideas, collaboration, and sustainable solutions. We're not looking for a complicated marketing plan that requires a large budget or staff. We want guidance that helps us make the most of the resources we have.
