    VOLUNTEER WITH YOUR SPOUSE

    At Providence Hospice, couples can spend time together in a way that truly matters—visiting patients who need companionship, conversation, and connection.

    A DIFFERENT KIND OF DATE NIGHT:

    • Sit side by side with someone who could use company

    • Share stories, laughter, and quiet moments

    • Bring warmth into a room that might otherwise feel lonely

    • You choose how far you travel (we serve a 60-mile radius)

    1. Complete your application

    Fill out a volunteer application and provide required documents (driver’s license, auto insurance, and information for a background check).

    1. Health & safety steps

    You’ll complete a drug test and 2-step TB test to ensure patient safety.

    1. Training & onboarding

    Attend training where we’ll prepare you for hospice volunteering and answer all your questions.

    1. Shadow visits

    You’ll visit alongside an experienced volunteer until you feel comfortable and confident.

    1. Get matched with a patient

    We’ll share patient needs with you, and you can choose visits that feel like the right fit based on your schedule and travel area.

    1. Begin visiting

    Start making a difference—typically about 1 hour per week per patient, in homes or care facilities.

    You don’t have to figure it all out—we’ll guide you every step of the way.
